Welcome to the Blue Mauritius Research Companion

This website contains biographical and bibliographical information about the Post Office Mauritius stamps and subjects related to them. It is based on my research for the book Blue Mauritius: The Hunt for the World's Most Valuable Stamps.

Journal Note

Still the Rarest Stamps
25 January 1900, pp. 3-4

The author of this note, in reference to the one cent British Guiana, then owned by Ferrary, states: "Now a stamp which is represented by a solitary specimen in the hands of a man not likely to part with the same cannot be said to enter into ordinary calculations, and so philatelists generally are agreed that the two stamps ilustrated here, the 1d and 2d 'Post Office' Mauritius are the rarest of all."
