Gold medal for Blue Mauritius
Blue Mauritius won the literature class at the recent National Philatelic Exhibition held in Sydney (15-17 June 2007). There were 12 entries (or exhibits, as they are termed). The other books and catalogues entered were all very worthy and I am pleased to have won in that company. In addition to the gold medal, I received a pair of Waterford crystal glasses, donated by the Parramatta Philatelic Society.
Jury member and organising committee secretary Linda Lee also donated a copy of Blue Mauritius to the winner of the best exhibit in the youth class (for exhibiting stamps, not books) and I hope the winner enjoys it!
The recognition, and gifts, are much appreciated. I thank the organising committee and the Parramatta Philatelic Society both.

Well done Helen! (well deserved, of course!)… a celebrity in our midst ;-) Enjoy a tipple from the waterford for me!
I will Andrew (after finishing a breastfeed naturally, and not before… although perhaps that would get Iris to sleep longer!). Thanks.
Congratulations Helen – fantastic news! Bravo!
PS I have a really good bottle of French champagne that I’m still waiting to share with you, once we both stop breastfeeding…
Congratulations Helen! I can vouch for the effects of drinking a little too much while breastfeeding…at least I got a good 10 or so hours sleep out of her!
Well done. How wonderful to receive recognition like that!
Ah yes, that bottle of champagne Angela – it’s been on ice for so long. Roll on 2008! Although Georgie I do like the sound of that 10 hour sleep…
Thanks Angela, Georgie and Anne-Marie!
Hi Helen
Congratulations on the prize for the book!
I’m sure you’ll enjoy using those impressive Waterford glasses.
Who knows, maybe the winner of the Youth section will be inspired to become an author themselves – and a gold medal winner in the future.
Cheers and salutes,
Tim
